Classes are led by 2017 Canadian National and US International BBQ Champion, John Thomson. Over 150 BBQ Awards including National Chicken and National Ribs Championships and Ontario Steak Champion. We know BBQ and we love to share that passion!

Interactive Classes

Classes are kept small to ensure intimacy, comfort and interactivity. We tend to have a lot of discussions and laughs in these sessions. Lots of time for Q&A and some chances to get your hands on too!.

Focus On Technique

We don’t simply teach you a recipe, we teach you how to make the best of any recipes, giving you the confidence and skills you need to wow your friends and family. Gas grill, wood pellet grill, smoker, it doesn’t matter what you use, we can help.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We tend to offer these classes seasonally:  Spring, Winter and Fall.  Summer is harder to do because everyone is too busy BBQing!

BBQ Workshops are 3 hours in length.  The Backyard Pitmaster and Competition Classes run 6 – 7 hours.  We tend to start the classes early in the day to make sure we end in the afternoon.

Yes you will.  Each dish we prepare is shared among the class, and there are sometimes leftovers for you to take home too.  We also serve breakfast, lunch and beverages during the all day classes.

Pictures are encouraged but videos are prohibited unless you specifically ask to film a particular segment in class.  Your hands will be too busy taking notes or eating BBQ to film anyways!

Sure, its a great way to make soup stock but a terrible way to make ribs.  We can help you make fall-off-the-bone ribs in 2 hours without boiling!

Yes, we provide you with printed materials for the class, a pen and notepads.  We also provide discounts for local shops and services and sometimes product samples.

For the Competition Classes, we do offer discounts for teams who are sending 2 or more members.  Use the coupon code TEAMDEAL to save $100 on the entry fee for the 2nd team member.

All classes are held at Cindy’s Restaurant, located at 17 Capella Court in the Hunt Club and Auriga area business park.  There will be no other patrons, as we rent out the entire restaurant for our classes.
